Vanessa MesiaI recently had an audition for a comedic role in a feature film. They told me that the improv trained actors they had seen the day before were just “too big” and over-the-top. The director came in had me do the scene, laughed and asked me to try a different way and then said that was great and asked me if could wait so they could bring in the producer. My training with Gunnar gave me the confidence, skill and practice to work each audition and be funny over and over again. I walked out of that audition feeling like a winner.

January 23 – February 27, 2018

“You need alt-comedy swami Beth Lapides and her proven techniques!” LA Weekly

Beth (Bio here) has mad skills at helping you shape your unique comedic perspective and zero in on the projects that most suit it. She’ll help you discover your life story, uncover the comedy in it, and develop the ability to consistently generate new material and the performing techniques to put that material over.

Her approach is highly individualized. Each of her students get personalized notes and specific guidance tailored not only their unique style of story telling but also to their specific way of learning and living.
Beth will cover:

  • The Infinite Loop of writing and performing
  • How to find and tell story based comedy
  • Different ways to showcase your unique talents
  • Creating content from a personal and authentic place
